Overview and History

The Rooting Database was originally created as a collection of pages each detailing published research results. All the rooting information was compiled by Dr. Choong I. Lee who, at the time, was working as a Staff Research Associate in the Department of Environmental Horticulture at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Lee spent many hours scouring the literature looking for detailed protocols focused on the rooting of woody perennials. In 1993, Dr. Lee and Dr. David W. Burger (Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Horticulture) converted the written information compiled by Dr. Lee into a dBase III database (J. Environ. Hort. 12(2):87-89. June 1994. In 1995, the diskette-distributed database was converted into HTML and loaded onto a web server. This website (getroots.net) is the first update of The Rooting Database since 1995.
